The truth is, not all pool services are the same. And in many cases, a lower price means less time, less attention, and more problems building up behind the scenes.
Many companies focus on volume. They try to service as many pools as possible in a day. That often means your pool gets just a few minutes before they move on. This is what’s often called a “splash and dash” service. When that happens, important steps get skipped, and that’s where the real cost comes in.
If your pool isn’t brushed regularly, algae can start to grow—especially in the shallow areas and along the walls. At first, you may not even notice it. But over time, it can turn into a full algae bloom that requires extra chemicals and treatments to fix.
If your water isn’t properly tested and balanced each week, it can become either too acidic or too high in minerals. Acidic water can slowly corrode your equipment, damaging pumps, heaters, and metal parts. On the other hand, high calcium levels can cause scale buildup inside your pipes and heater, reducing efficiency and increasing energy costs.
If your filter isn’t cleaned regularly, it becomes clogged and less effective. That means your water won’t stay as clean, and your system has to work harder to keep up. Over time, that added strain can shorten the life of your equipment.
Salt cells also need to be cleaned regularly. If they’re ignored, buildup can prevent them from producing chlorine properly—leading to cloudy water and forcing you to rely on extra chemicals.
And if no one is checking your equipment each week, small issues can go unnoticed. A minor leak, a weak pump, or a failing part can turn into a much bigger (and more expensive) repair. All of these problems usually start small, but they don’t stay small for long.
